Yadkin Valley Wine Festival
Yesterday, after a week of rain, the sun broke through in time for the Yadkin Valley Wine Festival in Elkin, NC.
At Golden Road Vineyards, we spent the last week working with our crew to get through shoot thinning and sneaking in grass cutting in between downpours. Saturday morning, I heading down to Elkin High School to pickup our Tour de Vino Shirt and Festival tickets and had an opportunity to talk to some of the Yadkin Valley Tour de Vino organizers – one of whom lives down the street from the vineyard. The were excited that we had sponsored the event yesterday and we’re looking forward to continuing to do so and seeing how else we might get involved in the Yakdin Valley Tour de Vino.
After returning, Crista and I spent an hour or so cheering on cyclists as they rode past Golden Road Vineyards – for those unfamiliar with the vineyard, there are two fairly steep hills on Golden Road, one on either side of the vineyard. Some of the pictures we took can be viewed below.
Around noon, we headed into Elkin to the Yadkin Valley Wine Festival along with Crista’s mom where we the opportunity to try a number of wines from wineries that we haven’t had the opportunity to visit yet.
Saturday’s sun was a great reprieve between two rainy weeks and it was great to see so many in the community out enjoying it!
