Budbreak Festival @ Mt. Airy, NC
Hi GRV visitors! This is Crista giving Chad a break at blogging on behalf of Golden Road Vineyards, so he can change out the flat tire on our ATV.
Yesterday, Chad and I spent our afternoon supporting Grassy Creek Vineyard and helping them pour at Mount Airy’s annual Budbreak Festival. The festival was a blast! First off, the weather actually cooperated! Second, there were so many other wineries, beer, food vendors, as well as very good music. Our tent was right across from the stage, so I do apologize in advance if it appeared I was yelling at anyone trying to explain the Chardonnay and other wines.
While we noticed the crowd preferred mostly Semi-Sweet wines at this festival, the biggest hit of the day was Grassy Creek’s dessert wine, the Perfect Pear. After only 2 hours at the festival, there were only half a dozen bottles left. For more information on Grassy Creek, please visit their website at http://www.grassycreekvineyard.com/home
We had lunch from 13 Bones and it was absolutely delicious! It was a pleasure also seeing RoundPeak / Skull Camp and Slightly Askew, as well. Chad and I are big fans of Skull Camp’s Hefs and Stouts, especially that Sour Cherry Stout. We enjoyed meeting the locals of Mt. Airy as well as those visiting from out of town. We met a lot of folks from Charlotte and then there were even further out of towners all the way from Indiana, Ohio, and other states.
For those that we met yesterday, thanks for visiting our website and please do keep in touch. We’ll be at the Yadkin Valley Wine festival in a couple weeks and hope to see you there!
